Yes, the ATA (Air Transport Association) reached an agreement to standardize mobile barcodes for use as boarding passes. Talk about a good idea! Basically instead of having to print the boarding pass you will now be able to simply present your cell phone with your boarding pass barcode displayed, check in and go on your merry way. I can't even begin to imagine how many tons of paper that little innovation is going to save not to mention the added time and convenience factor.
