So this was kind of weird.  Last Thursday word started circulating that AT&T (aka "The Old Cingular") was offering the long awaited Nokia N75 - along with the less-long awaited LG CU500v - handsets via their websites.  Considering that the N75 is/was/will be the first N-Series handset officially picked up by a US Carrier, this was kind of hot news.

Sadly, this news was too hot to last.  Almost as soon as people started clicking over to Cingular.com - that is, the new AT&T - to scope out the N75's vitals (UMTS, 2 MP camera, stereo bluetooth, HTML browser, $199 with 2-year contract), it was marked "Temporarily Out Of Stock."  As of my writing this, both the N75 and CU500V are still out of stock, though some folks are claiming to have ordered and taken delivery of the N75.

It seemed rather odd that Cingy would launch their new flagship multimedia phone on a Thursday with no fanfare whatsoever, but then again I wouldn't put it past them entirely.  Especially now that their energies are entirely split between rebranding as The new AT&T and fending off endless "Where iPhone? When iPhone?" calls to customer service. 

Hopefully the N75 will actually drop soon.  Hopefully Nokia and/or AT&T will send us one for review soon after.  Hopefully they'll have mistakenly put an N76 in the box instead of an N75 and let us keep it.  Riiiight ...
