HTC has done an excellent job in adding small programs to their new devices that the Windows Mobile OS is usually missing? for example task manager that actually closes the program when you press ?X? and not leave it running in the background. Since sharing files over Bluetooth is becoming more and more popular with mobile phones, HTC has decided to add this small application in their new devices. Usually in order to send a Bluetooth file to another Bluetooth device you would have to manually enable Bluetooth, click and hold a file and select beam, find the recipient, enter a password on both devices and then finally the transfer would begin.
Now HTC has added the Bluetooth explorer application in their new Pocket PC's which makes things a lot simpler. When you start up the application and Bluetooth is not activated, the program will ask you ?Bluetooth radio is turned off. Do you want to turn it on?? Once you have selected yes or Bluetooth was already on, the program starts searching for devices. When you click on a device it will automatically ask the other device ?Do you want to bond with HTC?. Once the initial setup is done (entering passwords on both devices) you can now view everything saved on the other device even the memory card!!
Using the HTC P4350 as an example that has Bluetooth explorer built in, under the Bluetooth settings you can access a ?FTP? tab which has the following options:
Under browse Bluetooth shared folder you can select any folder you want to share. Other devices will not be able to take files located in other folders if this option is selected. The default folder is My Documents\Bluetooth share.
Overall it is nice to see that HTC includes these small useful applications even though they don't have to.
