(ANCHORAGE, AK.) ? As part of its ongoing commitment to network excellence, Cellular One, the largest wireless provider in Alaska, has added two new cell towers in Southcentral Alaska. To celebrate, Cellular One from Dobson Cellular Systems said today it is making a donation to two youth programs in the respective communities.
Since the first new tower is located in Peters Creek near Mirror Lake, Mirror Lake Middle School's technology class will receive a check for $250. The second $250 donation will be made to Valdez Middle School's ?After the Bell? program to celebrate the new tower in Valdez, Alaska.
The new towers carry both the cutting-edge GSM technology and the traditional TDMA technology and join Cellular One's existing network of towers throughout the country. The Mirror Lake tower will increase coverage and capacity between Eklutna and Peters Creek on the Glenn Highway. The Valdez tower will offer increased coverage and capacity on the eastside of Valdez. Cellular One has added 15 new towers across the state and continues to grow.
Cellular One began offering its customers GSM services ? the most popular digital phone service in the world ? earlier this year. GSM gives wireless customers popular data services that include the ability to send and receive photos from a wireless handset, downloadable games and ring tones and the wireless Internet.
