ARLINGTON HTS., Ill. ? December 19, 2005 ? Motorola, Inc. (NYSE: MOT) strengthens its management and technology expertise in its fast-growing Wireline business with the appointment of industry veteran Tom Mader to corporate vice president and general manager of Wireline Networks. Mader will be responsible for further establishing Motorola's global leadership in Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP) and Fiber-to-the-Node (FTTN) solutions, including the deployment of next-generation entertainment services such as IPTV, video on demand (VOD) and digital recording.
As Motorola enters its second decade of success in Fiber technologies, Mader will plot the course for the company's wireline growth by leveraging its core competencies in carrier-class optical and copper-based networking solutions.

In this role Mader will report to Nemcek. Prior to joining Motorola, Mader was founder of Mader & Associates, a Voice over IP (VoIP) equipment company that offers outsourced marketing, distribution, order fulfillment and accounts receivables management expertise to small/start-up VoIP testing equipment companies worldwide. Previously, he served as chief executive officer for Netrake Corporation, a leading provider of session border controller solutions to the global IP market.
Before joining Netrake, Mader worked for Lucent Technologies in two senior leadership roles, first as regional vice president in Texas where he managed global marketing, sales, technical support and service delivery to Independent Telco customers, and second as regional vice president and managing director in Germany where he was responsible for operations and product management of its Global Optical Networking product family.
Mader also served as senior vice president and chief marketing officer for the Norrell Corporation where he was responsible for marketing, sales, global account management and service delivery functions. He has also held a number of senior positions with Nortel and its subsidiary companies, including president and chief executive officer of Bell Atlantic (Verizon) Meridian Systems ? a joint venture of Nortel and Bell Atlantic; vice president of Sales and Marketing to Ameritech; and vice president of Enterprise Markets Distributor Support.
