Many of us have had the opportunity to upgrade our phones for the latest and greatest models offered over the years. Unfortunately, I have thrown away at least 7 phones over the years not realizing there are companies out there that will refurbish phones and give them to worthy causes, like victims of Domestic Violence(http://www.wirelessfoundation.org ), The American Red Cross Armed forces Emergency Services(http://www.redcross.org ) , Easter Seals (http://www.easterseals.com), and The American Red Cross Disaster Relief Fund (http://www.redcross.org/services/disaster) just to name a few. You can click on the links to get more information on where the nearest drop-off centers are located in your area.

Just about all of the major service providers offer a way to donate your used cell phone directly through their website. It's a very simple process. First the company that receives your used phone will delete any information remaining on the phone. They will then either refurbish the phone to be redistributed as an emergency use only phone or sold in order to raise money to facilitate the purchase of new phones.

After looking around my house and asking my family and friends to look around theirs, we have come up with TWENTY TWO used phones and a bunch of accessories. It takes only a few minutes out of your day to make a potentially life changing difference for someone in need.
