We've compiled a list of 10 of our favorite Android apps to hit the Google Play Store in May 2016. The apps highlighted in this video include Lens Launcher, Spaces, GO Darling Alarm, fooView Float Viewer, Beme, Star Knight, Orph, Collage Print Studio, Great Big Story, and App Volume Control. Which app is your favorite?
We're back with some fresh new Android apps, all of which have either been released in May 2016 or just significantly updated. Let's get right into it.
Lens Launcher
Lens Launcher is a pretty neat launcher for Android , if I don't say so mayself. It's one of the only launchers that can display every single app you have on one of your home screens. You might think that's crazy, why would you do that and would it work. As you move your finger on the screen, each app is magnified to allow you to actually view the app that you want. Once you have hovered over an app and you can release your finger, the app will open. So it's really quite simple and I think this app will certainly pique your interest as it did with mine.
Spaces
Spaces is a new app from Google that lets you create a space to talk about anything in that space. It could be a space about cute animals or something cool and awesome. It's totally up to you. From there, you can share your spaces with your friends or family; creating a form of social network type of messaging app of sorts.
GO Darling Alarm
GO Darling Alarm is an alarm app that isn't so much for waking you up. It's for reminding you to do certain tasks. For example, it will remind you to pay your credit card or remind you about upcoming birthdays or stay on track with that trendy new vegan diet that you just embarked on without knowing just how hard it is to abide by. Reminders are insanely easy to set. They take a matter of seconds to enable. The app as a whole is pretty well-designed and looks pretty good and elegant.
fooView Float Viewer
fooView Float Viewer is pretty cool. You track and select text to search, screenshot, translate, you name it. Some of the neat gestures include one-handed swipe to go back instead of having to click back to go home. You swipe up to get your floating window, you swipe down so you can show notifications, and a long press will switch apps, files, weather, or news. It will take some time to learn the commands. I think that the app could be further refined to improve the performance but it shows some serious potential. I love being able to quickly select a portion of text and immediately perform a Google search or translation.
Beme
Beme is an app from the wildly popular app. It's been in beta for a while and now it's officially released as a stable build. It's a social media site designed for people to be in the moment and not to get too caught up in creating. All you do to record a beme is to hold your phone to your chest, do what it is that you're doing and that's about it. The footage is then uploaded to your account and sent out to your followers. It works by actually using the proximity sensors in your smartphone to detect when your phone is being held up to your chest. Of course, there are other ways to beme such as via selfie mode or you can react to other people's bemes not through typing but through video and images.
Personally, I like the concept. I just need some more motivation to use it on top of all the other social media sites I already have and should be updating.
Star Knight
Star Knight is a game that has gorgeous graphics and enough of an engaging plot to create a challenging action-packed fun. The scenario is as follows: the peaceful planet Gaon is under attack by hordes of monsters and dark dragon Nidhogg took away the sun. Can the knight now overcome the challenges ahead and bring back the peace?
What originally caught my eye is the graphics. I'm a sucker for beautiful yet simple looking games. But if you like what you see, you should give this app a look.
Orph
Orph is a puzzle game where you need to bring balls to the right side of the screen; not necessarily the right hand side of the screen but the right and wrong side of the screen if that makes sense. It sounds simple enough but as you progress through the levels, more and more balls will be sent over to their respective sides. It can get pretty challenging as in order to get the full amount of points, you need to perform each puzzle in as little time as possible.
Collage Print Studio
Collage Print Studio lets you create your own collage posters from your own digital photos across all your social media sites. There are 25 different layouts to choose from but what's particularly noteworthy is the fact that once you have your collage created, you can order your collage to be printed out and delivered to you. Great Big Story
Great Big Story is a news app but it's a beautiful news app that features great big stories that you swipe through. Stories take one page and when you click on a story, you're immediately taken to a fairly short little video of the story that you have selected. I'm always looking for original, new news apps and this fits the bill. You can search for stories and view stories from the current day from staff members as well as location-based stories.
App Volume Control
App Volume Control is the last app on the list today. What it does is that it allows you to manage the volume of your apps so you can use the app to go into settings and custom settings to volume each app that you have installed in your phone so that when they open, the volume you set with this app will be the volume level that you want. For example, once you have the app all opened up, you just tap on an app that you want to modify the volume and you select the volume level for each type of sound playing through your speaker, headset or via Bluetooth.
