So first of all, the HTC One M9 will most likely have a bigger brother called the HTC One M9 Plus with very similar specs. The major difference with the HTC One M9 Plus will be the display as it’ll feature a 5.5-inch QHD display with a 1440 x 2560 resolution, it may also have a slightly larger battery as well to power the additional pixels but everything else should be about the same as the HTC One M9.

The HTC One M9 will feature a 5-inch 1080p LCD display. It’ll come equipped with a 2GHz octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor paired with 3GB of RAM and an Adreno 430 GPU. And similar to the Galaxy S6, it too will have 32GB of native storage for the base model, but it will have a microSD card slot for expandable storage which is always a good thing.

Now the camera will be very different than the HTC One M8 in that it’ll ditch the rear-facing Ultrapixel camera sensor with a 20.7MP camera sensor but it will put a 4 Ultrapixel camera sensor on the front of the device so it’s not entirely gone. The 20.7MP rear-facing camera will have dual LED flash as well and should seriously be a big improvement over the camera found in the previous HTC One.

Now one of the best features in my opinion is the BoomSound stereo front-facing speakers that are still hard to beat, and thankfully they will return in the HTC One M9. We’ll also see a very familiar design of the hardware in that it will once again be constructed with a unibody aluminum construction.

The One M8 was built so well that there’s not a lot that needs to be changed in the M9, and so HTC is going to go with the ‘if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’ approach which is good by me. That means that we’ll see tapered edges with a thickness of about 9.6mm weighing about 157 grams. And it will be available in a couple color configurations, we’ll see a gold and silver configuration as well as a gunmetal gray color configuration.

We’ll also find the new HTC Sense 7 software running on the One M9 that will be running on top of Android 5.0 Lollipop. It’s not stock Android but it’s still one of the cleanest and best performing skins on top of Android, and I’m looking forward to what HTC has in store for us with the new software since software is so important. And to power it all will be a rather large 2900 mAh battery; which I really think will be enough to get good battery life especially since the M9 will not have a QHD display. If you’re at all worried though, it will have fast charging so you can charge the device up to 60% in just 30 minutes using Quick Charge 2.0 technology.
