A few weeks ago, we published a video entitled “7 Reasons Why Android 5.0 Lollipop is Better than iOS 8” so that means you knew this video was coming. This is “7 Reasons Why iOS 8 is Better than Android 5.0 Lollipop.” And let me remind you that this video is in favor of iOS 8, not Android while the former video was in favor of Android.

Number one is that it’s kind of a gimmick here but it does make sense. iOS 8 has a more simple navigation compared to Android Lollipop. I know, I know. iOS hasn’t changed much since its inception 8 years ago but it’s as functional as ever and is referred to as the easiest smartphone to use around.

Number two revolves around the notifications. iOS 7 debuted a big change for iOS software. We had an entirely new flat design with a huge update to its notification center, which was optimized to handle notifications like a pro. First of all, the notifications that came in (like emails and text messages) could be responded to via the notification themselves. You can also go into the notifications center and dismiss individual or application-based notifications. iOS also organizes two sets of notifications: one that is date specific and includes things like today’s calendar appointments and notifications that focus on simple information coming from your applications.

Number three is simple: iOS, in my opinion, has the most powerful app in the entertainment media stores around. The App Store is a powerful machine filled with over a million applications and all of them were created specifically for the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch. One of the advantages of having very specific hardware is having these applications look amazing all the time while running on these devices. Now iTunes is a huge, powerful store for music, movies, TV shows, podcasts and more. Apple iTunes is probably the biggest and best invention of the 21st century and it thrives on iOS.

Number four is the app design that backs up my point earlier. iPhone and iPad apps were always built to be iPhone and iPad applications. There is no magic resolution that everyone builds to, it’s just generally accepted that the resolution on these applications will be built to the highest resolution that Apple makes for their current generation of products and this always works in Apple’s favor. Some of the iOS applications that are specifically built for the iPhone and iPad looks miles better than their Android counterpart.

Number five is the buttery-smooth motions of the iOS on their latest hardware. Apple pushes their software to devices that could only handle the new operating system. Another requirement is that same experience of no lag and buttery-smooth performance to be on all of their devices and iOS 8 is not a rim color or even a CPU cruncher. It’s a fairly lightweight software, which means Apple’s software can run it with no problem. The amount of polish on iOS 8 is incredible and it’s really what makes iOS iOS.

Number six is a big deal for me—Touch ID was introduced with the iPhone 5s and it was a pretty good success. Ever since, Touch ID has come to the new iPhone 6, 6 Plus and the new iPad. They’ve also opened up Touch ID to third party application developers for example eBay and Amazon. Now they do have the ability of using Touch ID as your password and I’ve definitely enjoyed doing that on my Amazon or eBay purchases. I definitely hope more people will be using this in the future. Geometrics is a huge growing industry and it will be booming for the mobile world just a little bit and Touch ID is one of the main contributors to do that.

Number seven is probably my favorite and probably the simplest to explain to anyone who is an Android fan: iOS has no carrier restrictions. That means when new software’s available and your hardware is eligible, your carrier cannot control whether or not you get the update. It will be pushed out to everyone at the same time.
