Razer recently said that it would update the Razer Phone to Android 8.1 in April, and it looks like the company has achieved that goal with time to spare.
The Razer Phone is receiving its update to Android 8.1 Oreo starting today, April 16. Razer says that the update will be rolling out to users over the next 10 days, so don't fret if your Razer Phone doesn't get updated right away.
According to Razer, this Android 8.1 update brings performance improvements, bug fixes, and more. "The software update presents a cleaner visual design and under-the-hood improvements for a better overall experience," the company explains. "Users can also expect a Nova Launcher update, system improvements, and bug fixes."
There aren't many phones available right now that are running Android 8.1, and there are even fewer that aren't Google-branded Nexus or Pixel phones, so this update is a big deal for the Razer Phone. Razer is a company that's new to the smartphone game, but so far it's making a good first impression with software updates for the Razer Phone.
Also of note is that the Razer Phone is now available from Best Buy's online store. It's available for $699.99 with either a chrome or green Razer logo on its backside. The Razer Phone will be available in Best Buy's retail stores soon.
