The latest Android-powered BlackBerry phone is now official.
The BlackBerry Motion was introduced today at GITEX Technology Week, a conference being held in Dubai. As expected, the BB Motion is a full-touch smartphone manufactured by TCL.
When it comes to specs, the BlackBerry Motion runs Android 7.1 on a 5.5-inch 1920x1080 display, a Snapdragon processor, 4GB of RAM, a 4000mAh battery, and QuickCharge 3.0 support. There’s also a fingerprint reader on the front of the phone, USB Type-C and 3.5mm ports on the bottom, and the whole package is IP67 rated for dust and water resistance.
TCL’s BB Motion will launch first in the United Arab Emirates and Saudi Arabia, with pricing set at Dh1,699 and 1,699 Riyal ($453 USD), respectively. The device will roll out to other markets later this quarter.
With its 5.5-inch display and huge battery, the BlackBerry Motion looks like it could be a good option for folks that like BlackBerry’s brand and software but are interested in a full-touch experience or want a smartphone with water resistance. Details on the BB Motion’s availability outside of the UAE and Saudi Arabia is still a mystery, so we’ll have to wait and see where else in the world this new BlackBerry will travel to.
