Another luxury Android Wear smartwatch is getting ready to enter the market.
The Montblanc Summit is now official, running Android Wear 2.0 on a round 1.39-inch 400x400 AMOLED display. The 22mm strap is removable, and the 46mm case measures 12.5mm thick and offers IP68 water resistance and a domed sapphire glass cover.
Inside that case lives 4GB of storage, 512MB of RAM, a Snapdragon Wear 2100 processor, and a 300mAh battery. The Summit also includes a microphone, Wi-Fi, ambient light sensor, barometer, and heart rate sensor, but it’s lacking GPS, LTE, and NFC.
Montblanc says that the Summit will launch in May 2017 at a starting price of $890. There will be titanium, stainless steel, bi-color steel, and PVD black steel cases available, as well as rubber, sfumato, and calfskin straps.
The Montblanc Summit is an attractive, well-designed smartwatch, and it’s good to see more luxury Android Wear watches coming out to give more options to folks that prefer those styles. It is kind of disappointing that there’s no GPS for workouts, LTE, or NFC for Android Pay, but if you plan to mainly use your watch as a watch, then the Summit’s lack of those features may not be a big deal to you.
