Last month, BlackBerry CEO John Chen confirmed that his company is cooking up a new smartphone with a physical QWERTY keyboard. Now photos of that device may have leaked out.
Two photos that allegedly show a new BlackBerry smartphone have appeared on Chinese social networking site Weibo. The images show a device that’s reminiscent of the Motorola DROID Pro and BlackBerry Classic, with a candy bar form factor, a large display up top, and a physical keyboard below.
There isn’t much information to go with these images, so we don’t have any deals about this device’s screen size, processor, or anything like that. The Android navigation buttons do appear to be capacitive, and we can see physical buttons on the sides of the device for actions like controlling the volume and locking the display.
Keep in mind that these images are very much unconfirmed and that BlackBerry hasn’t officially announced any details of its upcoming QWERTY phone other than the fact that it exists. The company could end up doing a phone like this one, though. It’s already got a slider with the Priv, and we’ve seen these candy bar-style devices from BlackBerry before, like the Classic.
What do you think of this device? Would you buy it if BlackBerry released it?
