Last month, we got wind of a few new BlackBerry phones that are coming down the pipeline, all three of which are expected to run Android. Now one of those devices has leaked out in more detail.
A product page for the BlackBerry DTEK50, codename Neon, apparently went up overnight, revealing several official renders of the device as well as its specs. As you can see in the renders, the DTEK50 looks a bit like a BlackBerry-branded Alcatel Idol 4. It’s got a similar design that’s the same on the top and bottom, the same off-center microUSB port on the bottom of the phone, and a camera and flash combo in the upper corner of its backside.
When it comes to specs, the DTEK50 features a 5.2-inch 1920x1080 display and 8-megapixel camera on its face, as well as a 13-megapixel camera around back. Inside there’s an octa-core Snapdragon 617 processor, 3GB of RAM, 16GB of storage, and a microSD slot that you can use to add more storage. Powering the phone is a 2610mAh battery.
BlackBerry will include Android 6.0 with the DTEK50 along with all of its custom software features, including the BlackBerry Keyboard, BlackBerry Hub, and BlackBerry Password Keeper.
There’s no word on when the DTEK50 will launch, but considering that BlackBerry appears to have accidentally flipped the switch on its web pages early, an official announcement may be close. Stay tuned.
