It’s getting to be about the time when HTC announces a new flagship smartphone, and unsurprisingly, the rumor mill is chugging right along.
LlabTooFeR, a well-known HTC leaker, today spilled some new alleged details on the HTC Perfume, the company’s next Android flagship. The Perfume is expected to run Android 6.0.1 beneath Sense 8 at launch, not Android 6.1 like previously reported.
Interestingly, HTC is reportedly planning to equip the Perfume with different processors in different parts of the globe. In the US and Europe, the Perfume is expected to pack an octa-core Snapdragon 820 chipset, while Perfume variants in China and Southeast Asia will purportedly come equipped with an unspecified MediaTek processor.
I'm expecting 2 versions of the device: Qualcomm 820 (for EU and US markets) and MTK based (Mainly for China and South-East Asia)...

Today’s report also says that the HTC Perfume will debut at its own event. That suggests that an announcement at MWC at the end of February may not be in the cards. Such a move would make sense, though, because an MWC announcement could pit the Perfume up against the LG G5 and/or the Samsung Galaxy S7. Announcing the Perfume at its own event later on would give HTC’s flagship its own spotlight.
As a note, “Perfume” is just the codename for HTC’s next flagship smartphone. The final name isn’t yet known, but it could be “HTC One M10” or something else entirely.
