HTC BlinkFeed users may soon get some extra content loaded into their feed thanks to HTC.
An image shared by @upleaks claims to show how HTC plans to implement ads into BlinkFeed. The first screen shows an advertisement for the game Clash of Clans at the top of the user’s feed, which is an example of how HTC plans to “generate revenues with sponsored apps.” These app ads will include a link to download from Google Play.
The second screen demonstrates ads for HTC’s own products and other services. In this case, we see an ad for the HTC RE camera. These ads will allegedly also include products, accessories, and services, as well as ads from “strategic partners” like Yelp. As with the app ads, you’ll reportedly be able to click a button to buy or download the advertised product.
HTC hasn’t exactly posted amazing financials in a while, especially when you include its report from last month. As a result, it’s not a surprise that HTC is considering alternative sources of revenue, along with expanding beyond mobile products with devices like the HTC RE camera. It’s unclear when these ads may begin appearing in BlinkFeed, but @upleaks says that a recently-released update to the HTC Sense Home app includes the framework for these ads, so a launch may not be far off.
