There are already quite a few ways to add money to your iTunes account, including directly through iTunes itself or by buying an iTunes gift card. Today Apple added another way for you to give it money for iTunes purchases, this one being handy for anyone that frequents the company’s physical stores.
Apple is currently testing a new “iTunes Pass” feature that allows users to deposit money into their iTunes account at a Japanese Apple Store. Using iOS’s Passbook feature, folks can simply head to an Apple Store and inform one of the employees there that they’d like to add money to their iTunes account. The Apple specialist will then scan the customer’s Passbook barcode and accept your payment, and your balance will then be immediately updated.
Currently this feature appears to be in testing in Apple’s Japanese retail stores. It’s not clear when or if the feature will roll out to more regions, but here’s to hoping that it does. Not only is it nice to have another way to add funds to your iTunes account, but the feature also gives folks another reason to use Passbook, which hasn’t exactly exploded in popularity since its debut in late 2012.
