Microsoft and Google haven't exactly been the best of friends as of late, especially when it comes to YouTube, but it looks like the two companies have managed to find a way to work together. Google has told The Verge that YouTube and Microsoft will be collaborating on an update for the new YouTube app for Windows Phone that will be released "in the coming weeks." The update will make the app compliant with YouTube's API terms of service, meaning that users can expect to being seeing ads in their videos.
Microsoft released a major update to its YouTube app for Windows Phone earlier this month, replacing the old app that was basically just a bookmark to the mobile web version of YouTube with a fully-functional app. However, the updated YouTube app was missing ads and allowed users to download clips, two things that didn't sit well with YouTube. Microsoft's move appears to have gotten it the help in creating the YouTube app that it's wanted for some time now, though, and the fact that these companies are coming together to create a new YouTube app update is great news for Windows Phone users. Stay tuned and we'll give you a shout once the update app officially goes live.
