The Samsung Galaxy S 4 Active may be resistant to dust and water, but one thing that its ruggedized body won't protect it from is a camera. Just a day after starring in a batch of leaked photos, the Galaxy S 4 Active is back again this morning, and this time its been caught on video. The clip from MobileTechReview is fairly brief, but it does show the Galaxy S 4 Active and its orange outer edge in the wild, as well as a quick glance at its "About device" menu that again shows its model number to be GT-I9525.
On the spec side of things, today's report claims that the Galaxy S 4 Active is sporting a feature set similar to that of the regular Galaxy S 4, save for its camera and processor. MobileTechReview claims that the Galaxy S 4 Active packs an 8-megapixel shooter, down from the 13-megapixel camera on the Galaxy S 4, as well as a dual-core Snapdragon S4 Plus processor. That second tidbit of information goes against the benchmark screenshot that leaked out yesterday and showed the device as having a quad-core Snapdragon 600 CPU and Adreno 320 GPU. There's no hard evidence to support the claims of a dual-core S4 Plus processor, though, so for now you may want to take that tidbit with a few grains of your favorite salt.
We'll have to wait until Samsung makes the Galaxy S 4 Active before we find out which processor is really powering this ruggedized handset. If it's indeed an S4 Plus rather than a Snapdragon 600, the Galaxy S 4 Active may not be quite as appealing to those looking for a straight-up ruggedized version of the Galaxy S 4. This upcoming handset does retain the form factor and software of the Galaxy S 4, though, so it could still be a good option for folks that are fans of Samsung's hardware and its TouchWiz features.
