The Sony Xperia TL launched with Android 4.0 late last year, but AT&T promised that the Bond phone would be updated to Android 4.1 sometime after launch. It looks like that time is now, because several Xperia TL users on the XDA-Developers forums are reporting that they've begun receiving the update. Sony's website confirms the news, showing that an update to Jelly Bean was released on Feb. 28 with the software version number 9.1.F.1.120. 

Sony hasn't yet provided a full changelog showing everything that's been packed into the Xperia TL's update. However, the device maker does reveal that the new software includes updated versions of Sony apps like Album and Movies, a revamped home screen with up to 7 panels and auto-resizing widgets, an improved app tray with better organization and new search functionality, and a better camera app with an improved viewfinder, an auto-scene setting and the ability to flip between the front and rear cameras with one touch. All of the usual Jelly Bean goodies are also included, such as Google Now and actionable notifications.

Xperia TL owners looking to get their Jelly Bean on can check for this update on their phones by heading into Settings > About phone > Software update. If nothing shows up, the next step is to fire up Sony's PC Companion or Bridge For Mac software, plug the Xperia TL in to your computer and look for the update that way. Considering the changes named by Sony, this sounds like an update that Xperia TL users will want to jump on as soon as possible. I'm sure that 007 will be doing the same.
