Hey Sprint customers, how would you like to see a new LTE-capable Motorola device make its way to the Now Network? That's exactly what may happen soon, as a mysterious Motorola-made handset recently passed through the FCC and appears to be bound for Sprint. The device goes by the model number XT897 and features CDMA and EV-DO connectivity as well as support for NFC and LTE band 25, the latter of which just so happens to be Sprint's preferred type of 4G LTE. Unfortunately, there aren't many other details on the XT897 to be found in the FCC's report.

As some of you may remember, there have been rumblings about a device referred to as the Motorola Photon Q 4G LTE that may be headed to Sprint. A photo showing that handset in the wild leaked out back in mid-June, and comparing that image with the outline of the XT897 from the FCC's report shows that the two phones appear to have similarly-angled corners. There's no word yet on when the Photon Q/XT897 might actually be launching on Sprint, but now that its gotten a stamp of approval from the FCC, it's at least one step closer to doing so.
