Sprint will soon be making an announcement at its shindig in New York City, but before the event kicks off, the carrier also took the time to detail a new update for the Samsung Conquer 4G. The update is software version FC17 and brings with it a security fix that, if it's anything like the other recent Sprint security updates, is meant to remove Carrier IQ from the device. Sprint notes that the FC17 update also removes the Magic, Smoke, Many, Maps, Nexus, Spectrum, Water, and Waveform live wallpapers from the Conquer 4G.
All in all this looks like a pretty minor update for the Conquer 4G, but it's still good to see the handset getting some update love, especially considering how long it's been since it last got any. It's worth noting that Sprint says the FC17 update will be released in stages starting today with all devices expected to receive it within 10 days, so don't fret if you've got a Conquer 4G lying around and it doesn't get notified of the new software today. Once it does hit, make your way to the comments below and let us know. We'll be waiting.
