Turns out that the BlackBerry PlayBooks that were recently spied in the FCC with HSPA+ and LTE connectivity aren't the only bits of good news for RIM's 7-inch tablet. Rob Orr, RIM's VP of product management, has told TechRadar that the PlayBook will be updated to the BlackBerry 10 OS. Orr didn't specify when PlayBook owners could see the upgrade, but he did mention that RIM plans to release its first BB10 handset towards the end of the year and that the OS will then make its way to the PlayBook after that launch. Here's the full statement from Orr:
"We've said publicly a number of times that our first BB10 handset will be available towards the end of 2012, and that's still firmly the case. At some point after the launch we'll bring BB10 to our PlayBooks, yes."
It sounds like PlayBook owners may still have a bit of a wait ahead of them before the BlackBerry 10 update arrives, but it's still good to hear that RIM plans to continue to show love to its slate later on in the year. Good thing that PlayBook owners will be able to pass the time with email and Android apps thanks to the recently-released PlayBook OS 2.0 upgrade.
