Mobile World Congress saw the folks at Sony take the wraps off of a pair of new Android handsets in the Xperia P and U, and now a leaked image has revealed yet another device that could soon be joining the Xperia family. The handset you see above is the Sony MT27i and features the codename "Pepper." As far as specs go, we're told to expect a 3.7-inch 854x480 display, 1GHz dual-core processor, 5-megapixel shooter, 8GB internal storage and 512MB RAM. The presence of those little Xperia Smart Tags in the shot also suggests that NFC support will make its way into the Pepper.
So when will we see Sony add some Pepper to the smartphone market? That much isn't yet known, but the fact that the image you see above originated from Sony's Mobile China website (before quickly being pulled), it may not be long before it's made officially official. The aforementioned Xperia P and U feature a 4-inch and 3.5-inch display, respectively, as well as 1GHz dual-core processors, so by the look of things the Pepper could slot in between the two in Sony's Xperia roster when it does launch. Stay tuned for more.
