Good news for all of you ASUS Transformer Prime owners feeling a bit burned after the reveal of the TF700T and its 1080p display: During the NVIDIA CES press conference today, it was revealed that the Prime's update to Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich will begin today. Originally the update was expected to begin rolling out this Friday, January 12th, but it seems that it was given the green light a tad early.
While on stage during the same NVIDIA press conference, CEO Jen-Hsun Huang and ASUS Chairman Jerry Shen teased a new 7-inch Android tablet running Ice Cream Sandwich. Under the hood, this ASUS-made slate is packing a quad-core Tegra 3 processor. Not much else is known about the mystery tablet, but it was mentioned that whenever the thing goes on sale, it'll be priced at $249. Check out a photo of the device below.
Sounds like good news for Android tablet fans to me. Not only is the Transformer Prime, one of the more popular slates at the moment, getting bumped up to Android 4.0 today, but the prospect of a $249 Tegra 3 tablet is pretty exciting, even if we don't know when the thing will launch or even what it's called.
