Yesterday we saw the debut of T-Mobile's Nokia Lumia 710, which is noteworthy because it's the first Nokia-made Windows Phone to be announced for a U.S. carrier. The debut marked the first day of "Operation Rolling Thunder," says Nokia North America President Chris Weber, the internal name of the company's planned rollout of Windows Phone devices here in the U.S. Speaking with Bloomberg, Weber said that Nokia plans to release "a portfolio of devices in the U.S. across a range of price points, user experience and operators." The exec didn't go into any details about specific devices, but he did tease that CES is going to be big for Nokia. "We’ll have a very large presence and it’ll be clear that Nokia is back in a quite strong way in the U.S.," Weber said.

Some may feel that Nokia kicked off Operation Rolling Thunder with a small rumble rather than a full-on boom, but the rumor mill has it that the company's got some big devices in store for remainder of its U.S. rollout. We've heard that both AT&T and Verizon are testing LTE-capable versions of the Lumia 800, and there are also reports that a new device dubbed the Lumia 900 may be headed stateside early next year with a 4.3-inch display. What else might Nokia have up its sleeve to help Windows Phone fight off the likes of the Galaxy Nexus and iPhone 4S? That's still up in the air, but luckily CES is less than a month away, so we don't have to wait long to find out.
