It's the end of an era. After there was no mention of Motorola's MOTOBLUR skin to be found in the announcement of the Photon 4G yesterday, a spokesperson for the company has confirmed that Moto will no longer be using the name going forward thanks, at least in part, to feedback from the public. That doesn't mean that Moto's custom UIs won't be disappearing completely, though, as some of the social aspects of the skin will continue to be used in the future along with more business-friendly features.
This news doesn't come as a complete shock considering Motorola Mobility CEO Sanjay Jha's previous comments on BLUR, but it's still an interesting move. Like I said before, the BLUR skin is still present on a few devices, like the new Motorola XPRT on Sprint, but Moto's also been using a more refined version of its skin on high-end devices like the Photon 4G and DROID Bionic. What do you all think of Motorola's newer custom UI? Do you like it better than the skin formerly known as BLUR on devices like the XPRT and DEFY?
