Eagerly anticipating the day that you can get your hands on HP's latest, greatest, and probably smallest handset, the HP Veer? It doesn't look like you'll be waiting much longer, as a couple of new event invites have suggested that we could see the Veer launch sometime early next month. First up, an invitation to an event hosted by HP on May 2nd has been revealed by the folks at PreCentral, and the guest of honor just so happens to be the tiny webOS smartphone. One other thing about the event that's worth noting: after signing up for the event in question, a user was told to bring either an ID badge or "an AT&T/Best Buy Business card," suggesting that the Veer may eventually land on Ma Bell's shelves.
Keeping up with the webOS news, ATT will be hosting a webOS 3.0 webcast on May 12th for anyone interested in developing for the latest version of webOS and HP's TouchPad. Again, there's been no word on which carriers will be offering the webOS slate when it launches later this summer, but it certainly looks like it could be joining the Veer on AT&T's lineup.
We heard last month from an HP exec that the Veer was "on course" for a launch in May, and news of HP's event definitely adds credence to that employee's claim. As for the possibility of it launching on ATT, we've already seen both the Pre Plus and Pixi Plus arrive on AT&T's shelves, so it wouldn't be a surprise to learn that the carrier had more webOS devices coming down the pipeline. If the Veer is indeed coming in early May, we should be hearing more official details in the coming weeks, so be sure to stay tuned.
