Details are still light on HP's upcoming webOS tablet, which is currently being referred to as the PalmPad, but the device is in the news today as its manufacturer may have come to light.  According to Digitimes, who has been a bit hit or miss with their claims in the past, is reporting that HP has tapped Inventec to produce 6-7 million "tablet telecommunication devices" in 2011.  Inventec is responsible for the Barnes and Noble NOOKColor, which is expected to surpass 1 million units shipped by the end of the year.

HP has said in the past that they're going to go all with webOS, and it's good to see that they're ordering so many tablets be made.  They feel like it's going to be a hit, which isn't surprising since it is their product.  However, we still haven't seen the PalmPad, and we don't really know anything about it at all except that it's running webOS, so it's hard to get crazy excited about it.  Until HP whips out the tablet for all the world to see, we'll just remain cautiously optimistic about the whole thing.
