AT&T recently posted their financial earnings for Q2 of 2010 and, just like their partner Apple, the carrier did pretty well for itself. The wireless division of AT&T managed to post revenues of $13.186 billion, which is up 10.3 percent from the same time one year ago. This lead to profits of $4.023 billion for the entire company, up 25.8 percent from last year.
When it comes to subscribers, AT&T added 1.6 million new ones, which means the carrier is now serving 90.1 million customers total. At least some of the credit for AT&T's growth has to go to the iPhone, 3.2 million of which were activated in Q2. This number includes the first few days of the iPhone 4 launch.
Blended churn rate for AT&T has dropped to a record low, at 1.29 percent, while the postpaid churn rate is sitting pretty at 1.01 percent. The carrier saw a 10.3 percent growth in wireless service revenues, while wireless data services saw an even bigger growth, at 27.2 percent.
It definitely sounds like it was a good quarter for AT&T, as the iPhone continues to help propel them to increasingly high profits. It will be interesting to see how much growth the carrier experiences once the iPhone is no longer exclusive to them, whenever that finally happens. Until then, Apple and AT&T will continue to basically print money for themselves.
