HTC introduced a new smartphone this week, but it's not that 5G handset that the company recently promised is coming.

The HTC Wildfire R70 is an entry-level smartphone with a triple rear camera setup. The main cam is a 16MP snapper with 1.4μm sensor and f/1.75 aperture, and there's a 2MP macro camera for close-up shots as well as a 2MP depth camera to help you capture those blurry portrait mode photos that are popular now.

Around front there's a 6.53-inch 1560x720 display with waterdrop notch and an 8MP selfie cam. There's a rear fingerprint reader on the Wildfire R70, too, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack and a microUSB charging port.

Diving inside HTC's first new smartphone of 2020, we're greeted by a 2.0GHz octa-core MediaTek MT6763 processor paired with 2GB of RAM. There's 32GB of built-in storage available, and HTC has included a microSD card slot if you need more storage. A 4000mAh battery is powering the whole package.

HTC has preloaded the Wildfire R70 with Android 9.0, which is a bit disappointing since Android 10 launched around 6 months ago. The phone also runs HTC's Sense user interface.

HTC isn't saying much about the Wildfire R70's launch or price, but the phone was announced in India, so that's at least one country where it'll be available.
