Google's new Android TV streaming device is now available, nearly two months after it was first announced.
You can now buy the ADT-3 Developer Kit from Askey for $79. As its name implies, this device is intended for developers to help them create Android TV apps, but anyone can buy one if they want.
What's most notable about the ADT-3 is that it's running Android 10. We haven't seen many new Android TV devices come to market lately, so one that's backed by Google and comes with Android 10 preloaded is a big deal, even if it's not intended for consumer use.
The ADT-3 is a small puck that uses a quad-core A53 processor, 2GB of RAM, and offers 4Kp60 HDR HDMI 2.1 output. It's got a small button on the front, an HDMI port on the side, and a microUSB port on the back.
The remote that comes with the ADT-3 has a circular d-pad for navigation as well as dedicated Google Assistant, Home, Menu, and Back buttons. There are also buttons for power and volume to help you control the unit.
Google hasn't had a ton of news to share regarding Android TV lately, but the launch of this ADT-3 Developer Kit shows that it's still committed to its TV set top box platform. The ADT-3 will get the latest Android TV software into the hands of developers, and Google hopes it'll help spur them to create new apps and improve existing ones.
