Pokémon Go was a breakout success, letting people play Pokémon on their smartphone and capture monsters while they were out and about. Now it looks like another Pokémon game is on the way.
DeNA is working on a mobile game with The Pokémon Company. The news was revealed during DeNA's investor briefing (spotted by Touch Arcade and the WSJ's Takashi Mochizuki), where it was also announced that the game will launch by March 2020. Unfortunately, those are the only details available on the game right now.
DeNA has a lot of history with mobile games, including titles that involve major franchises. The company helped Nintendo develop Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp and Super Mario Run, and it's also working on the upcoming Mario Kart Tour game.
Pokémon has been around for 20 years, but the franchise has enjoyed some resurgence lately thanks to the popularity of mobile game Pokémon Go and Pokémon Let's Go on the Nintendo Switch. Now we know that another mobile Pokémon game is in the works, and it'll be interesting to see what the title is all about after the success of Pokémon Go and DeNA's experience with mobile gaming.
What do you want this upcoming Pokémon mobile game to be?
