Robocalls from telemarketers, scammers, and political groups can be annoying, which is why T-Mobile is improving its Name ID service to help you avoid those types of calls.
T-Mobile is updating its Name ID app for Android and launching a new app on iOS. The app is getting a simpler, more functional design and improved features like a reverse phone search. The block list now has its own area of the app where you can easily block and unblock callers, and when you do block a number, it's blocked at the network level so that if you switch phones, that phone number will still be blocked from reaching you.
Name ID can identify robocallers using T-Mobile and partner data and tell you which type of call it is, like a scam, nuisance, telemarketer, political call, survey, charity, or prison/jail. You can choose to block an entire category of calls if you'd like. And with Scam Block included, you can block all likely scammers before they call you.
Another feature of Name ID is the ability to choose whether you want to receive notifications for calls that've been blocked or sent to voicemail. This way you can know if a scammer tried to reach you, but if you don't really care, then you won't be bothered.
The T-Mobile Name ID app is now available for Android and iOS. Name ID is included with T-Mobile's One Plus add-on, which costs $15 per line per month and also offers HD video streaming, 20GB of 4G LTE mobile hotspot usage, 256kbps international data speeds, unlimited Gogo in-flight Wi-Fi, and Voicemail to Text. T-Mobile postpaid customers can also sign up for Name ID on its own for $4 per line per month.
