Suncom is Ok.

Posted on: March 19th, 2008 by Irene Haskins

The good: I barely ever have a dropped call. They have never taken too much money from me.the unlimited calling plan. The bad: Crappy phones.Summary: I have had suncom for about 2 years now. maybe 3. and i haven't had a problem with it. the only thing i don't like about them is that their phones aren't very fancy. even though that doesn't really matter. but i want a phone with a full keyboard for texting. and they don't have nice cheap ones for that. i think they should get sidekicks like tmobile. other then that the service is great.

SunCom is Pretty Good

Posted on: March 25th, 2008 by Jule Dragstrem

The good: Low prices compared to other companies. The bad: Insurance can only be bought for a short period of time. Poor reception in one area.Summary: SunCom is a pretty fair company. Yes, you can only buy insurance for a short period of time. They tell you that right up front. Second, my husband and I did not have to renew a plan once our 2 yr. deal ended. The company has been very gracious and helpful.

Stay Away From SunCom

Posted on: June 1st, 2005 by Anonymous

The good: The phones make excellent paper weights when they aren't working....which is most of the time. The bad: The worst customer service of any business I have ever had to deal with. The phone selection is very poor and they only offer one phone without a camera. Call reception is the worst I have ever experienced...calls are dropped on a regular basis, whomever you call only hears static, your voice echo's on the line, voicemail notification usually takes 24 hours, and unable to text message.Summary: Not only has the reception quality been horrible since day 1, but customer service is unwilling to help in any way. You never get the same person on the line twice, and often hold times are around 40 minutes. Everyone tells you something different, but nobody is willing to stand behind anything that is ever said or promised. Repeated calls were made to customer service concerning call quality, however nothing was ever done to improve it. Finally another company told me about the 30 day buyer's remorse period. I called to confirm this policy with customer service and was told I could use this policy to cancel my service without penalty. When transfered to the department that handles service termination, I was told that I had been told wrong and I had only a 15 day period to cancel. Even though I called repeatedly during this period, nobody within the company ever informed me of this policy. They have no idea what they are doing or even what their company policies are....STAY AWAY FROM SUNCOM!!!

The good: Cheap BUT YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR!!!!The bad: NO SERVICE unless you are in Columbia, SC Summary: I got three phones for my kids at X-Mas. I thought i was getting a good deal. When I gave the phones to them they wouldnt pick up service anywhere. When I got the phones i was miss led on everything. I called Suncom and they told me it was too late i was stuck for two years during the contract. Now i have three phones that no one can use. They cant text or send pics or anything. Trust me if its to good to be true dont do it. Take my advice and pay more for another type plan because Suncom STINKS!!!! And I cant wait for this to be over.

"Truth in Wireless" no longer their motto

Posted on: July 17th, 2007 by Mark G

The good: The best thing I can say about Suncom is that their service is crappyThe bad: at least 50% of all phone calls fail to connect or drop, regardless of location. rude and uncooperative customer service.Summary: Ever seen their recent ads to add a line for $10? Not without a new two year contract. What about replacing a phone? Sorry -- two more years. Adding minutes? Add two years. What about an "implied warranty of fitness for use" i.e., a cell phone should actually be able to make and receive phone calls? Sorry -- "It must be where you live... drive... too many trees... your phone may be broken... etc. etc. Nothing but excuses. I've called to complain, but never any action or even apologies.I can't wait till it's over. The absolute worst cell phone company -- not a very high bar to begin with.

NEVER choose suncom!!

Posted on: August 2nd, 2005 by Anonymous

The good: None. The bad: Everything from customer service to dropped calls is negative with Suncom. If you have questions about your phone the typical answer is "sorry I cannot help you" after a 15 minute automated phone runaround! Dropped calls are very frequent (and 'sorry there is nothing they can do')The phone often gets busy signals where you cannot make or recieve calls.Summary: I believe that the only way that this company has ANY actual customers is the fact that they charge you $200 if you drop out. I really do not believe that there is much positive about this entire company and it only is only a hassle to deal with the people who are supposed to be "customer service Reps" I would tell anyone who will listen do NOT waste your money!! And do NOT waste your time, just look for anything else.

Suncom Service is the worst!

Posted on: March 18th, 2007 by Anonymous

The good: I have an older plan that fits my needsThe bad: They have no idea what service is. Drop Calls! The do not stand behind any product they sell Summary: Never really had a problem and was forced to buy new phones, due to network changes, then the phones they sold us (suggested by the manager as the best phone they had) has been nothing but problems. Thier stock answer is thats not our problem you need to send it back to the maker of the phone. Its not thier problem. The manager in the Southern Pines store has been rude to me and my wife. They are great to sign up, but from that point on you are on your own and they do not care. The regional manager even admitted he did like thier policies but that is all they could do.

Get insurance and can't trust anything they say

Posted on: December 2nd, 2007 by K Taylor

The good: The UnplanThe bad: the worst cust service and deceitful misleading adsSummary: I've been w suncom for 3 yrs. Paid for insurance that they claimed they no longer have but it was only to cover me for 1yr although my contract was for two yrs. I thought after the 2yrs was up, I would be month to month. But noooo, it reactivates automatically if you have to replace one of their raggedy phones. I have 3 lines now and they told me that there's no way that i can add the insurance. the only time is up to 15 days after purchase. I was told to go on ebay or craigslist to get a replacement phone. Wouldn't u guess everybody is looking for a replacement suncom phone. I'm going to report them to the Better Business Bureau. I would never ever recommend Suncom not even to my worst enemy.

Can't wait for contract to expire!

Posted on: August 22nd, 2006 by HEATHER HOLDREDGE

The good: Not a whole lotThe bad: Everything about their service is bad. Summary: I had to move and moved .2 miles from their tower. I have no reception at my home with a very young infant, so I had to get a landline phone. We had been using our cellphones as primary phones, so we pay nearly a hundred a month for them. I called CS and tried to see if I could lower the bill since I can no longer use the phone as a home phone. Although I have had service with them for 2 and 1/2 years, "There is nothing they can do". They also said that I could not cancel my contract unless I paid $200+ PER PHONELINE. So now I pay $95 a month for a total of about 200 minutes! This is only the latest problem. I have also had to call 7 times to get somebody else's name off the bill. For some reason, there was somebody else's name, along with my own, on my bill. Not to mention we were lied to when we originally signed a Suncom contract. When we called them on it, they said that agent had been fired for misleading several people and yet they would not let us end the contract. There are tons of dropped calls, reception is fine, but go a block and you have none, and forget calling tech support unless you have 45 minutes to wait to REPEATEDLY hear Harry Conick Jr. and the annoying Suncom jingle. I would NEVER recommend Suncom to anybody.

Thank God my contract is over!!

Posted on: February 10th, 2007 by Mike Nocher

The good: Really cheap price. The bad: EVERYTHING else! Dropped calls, store support, ability to correct any problem.Summary: I have had Suncom for about six years. In Columbia, SC I never had any problems with dropped calls and reccomended the service to everyone I knew. That was then. I've lived in the Charleston, SC area for three years and lose an average of 4-5 calls per day! My house, exit 205 and mile marker 196 on I-26 are all areas that I can not talk. When I have called customer service, they were nice but not at all helpful. First, the technician tells me that the problem is that I live too far away from the nearest tower and that I must be within two miles of a tower. Then he figures out that I live 1.5 miles form a tower. Oh well. There goes that theory. Then another one tells me that they are aware of the issues on I-26 and that they are "working on it". I guess I expect too much to think that I should be able to use my cell phone on a major interstate near a large metropolitan area. I accumulate between 1900-3700 minutes per month for business and personal reasons. $60.00 is a great price, but I would love to be able to talk without being disconnected. I wil change service this month.
