After handing out free Chromecast with Google TV units to new subscribers a couple of months ago, YouTube TV is now giving a similar gift to existing customers.
Some YouTube TV subscribers are receiving an email today that says they can get a free Chromecast with Google TV. "We wanted to say thanks and offer you, a longtime friend of YouTube TV, a new Chromecast with Google TV — on us," reads the email that users have received.
Customers who have gotten the email say that they must claim their gift before December 31. Just click the button included in the email to claim your free Chromecast with Google TV.
The fine print of the deal says that you must have activated YouTube TV before June 1, 2018 to qualify for this offer, so YouTube TV is serious when it says that the gift is for "longtime friends" of the service.
The Chromecast with Google TV is normally priced at $49.99, so this is a nice little gift for folks who have been using YouTube TV for a long time now.
The dongle just launched a few months ago and plugs into your TV over HDMI. You can use it as a Chromecast to beam content from your phone to your TV, and it runs a special version of Android TV complete with streaming apps and access to the Play Store. The remote includes a Google Assistant button plus shortcuts for YouTube and Netflix.
