Twitter is beefing up the security of its mobile apps.
Today Twitter launched support for physical security keys on Android and iOS. This means that when securing your account with two-factor authentication, you can now plug a physical security key into your mobile device to authenticate your login.

Twitter has offered two-factor authentication for a long time, but until today, physical security keys could only be used on the desktop. That meant that mobile users had to rely on an authentication app or a text message to beef up their Twitter account security.
Many people prefer security keys for two-factor authentication because the physical aspect of it is more secure than relying on something like a text message. While that's more secure than having no 2FA at all, using a text message for authentication could also leave you vulnerable to a tactic like SIM swapping.
