Peak Design is a company known for its bags and camera accessories, but now it's getting into mobile.
Today Peak Design launched a line of smartphone cases and accessories. Called Mobile, the focus of the line is SlimLink, which allows you to mount your phone to things like bike and wall mounts, a wireless charging stand, a kickstand wallet, and a car mount. SlimLink can mount magnetically or mechanically.
The Mobile by Peak Design also includes an Everyday Case that's made of polycarbonate and covered in a nylon fabric. This case comes with a SlimLink adapter built in so that you can attach it to all of Peak Design's mounts and it's got full-surround drop protection.
The Everyday Case is compatible with wireless charging, and Peak Design says that it intends to make the Everyday Case compatible with Apple's new MagSafe wireless charging solution, too. What's more, you'll be able to use Peak Design's magnetic mounts with other MagSafe cases.
To start, Peak Design says that it'll offer Everyday Cases for the iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro and Pro Max, and the Samsung Galaxy S20, S20+, and S20 Ultra. If you've got a different phone, Peak Design also offers a Universal Adapter that you can stick to the back of your phone or case and use with the SlimLink mounts. The company plans to launch Everyday Cases for other phones in the future.
Peak Design is launching its Mobile accessory lineup on Kickstarter today. You can get an Everyday Case for $32 or a Universal Adapter for $16, both of which are discounted from their regular MSRPs of $40 and $20, respectively. There are a variety of mounts for you to choose from, too, like a car mount for $32, a bike mount for $40, a wireless charging stand for $72, and a mobile tripod for $45. All of the Kickstarter prices on these mounts are discounted from their MSRPs, too.
All of the Mobile by Peak Design cases and mounts have an estimated delivery of May 2021.
Peak Design's backpacks and bags are known for being solid, clean-looking ways to tote your cameras and other things, and these Mobile accessories seem to share those traits. Having a system of mounts and stands throughout your life that you can easily stick your phone to could be attractive to a lot of people, and compatibility with the MagSafe ecosystem means you'll still be able to take advantage of Apple's new wireless charging solution if you're buying a new iPhone 12.
