iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 mini battery sizes revealed in regulatory filings

Earlier this week we learned how much RAM Apple's new iPhone 12 and iPhone 12 Pro models are packing, and now we're getting some info on their battery sizes, too.

The iPhone 12 mini battery measures in at 2227mAh while the iPhone 12 battery has a capacity of 2815mAh. That's according to regulatory filings from Anatel in Brazil that were spotted by Tecnoblog.

Those battery sizes place the iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 12 in-between the iPhone SE (2nd Gen) and iPhone 11. We previously learned that the new iPhone SE's battery measures in at 1821mAh while the iPhone 11 has a 3110mAh battery.

There's no word yet on the battery sizes for the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max.

Despite its smaller battery, Apple says that the iPhone 12 offers similar or better battery life than the iPhone 11. The iPhone 12 is rated to get 17 hours of local video playback and 11 hours of streamed video on a single charge, while the iPhone 11 is rated to get 17 hours and 10 hours, respectively. The iPhone 12 mini gets 15 hours of local video playback or 10 hours of streaming video.

Apple doesn't typically disclose the exact sizes of the batteries in its iPhones, instead telling us how long the batteries can play video and audio, so it's interesting when we can get exact battery sizes from things like regulatory filings like we have today. While we don't yet know the battery sizes for the iPhone 12 Pro and Pro Max, that info should come out soon
