Nokia 3.1 now getting Android 10 update, Nokia 5.1 will be updated soon

Following the launch of Android 10, HMD Global set a schedule for updating nearly 20 of its Nokia phones. Now we can check another one off that list.

HMD Global is now pushing the Android 10 update to the Nokia 3.1. The update is going out in waves starting in these countries: Armenia, Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, Belarus, Georgia, India, Kazakhstan, Laos, Malaysia, Mongolia, Morocco, Nepal, Philippines, Singapore, Sri Lanka, Thailand, Tunisia, Ukraine, Uzbekistan, Vietnam.

HMD says that 10% of those markets will get the Nokia 3.1's Android 10 update today, with 50% getting it by October 10 and 100% by October 12.

What's more, HMD Global Chief Product Officer Juho Sarvikas says that the Android 10 update for the Nokia 5.1 should begin rolling out in around 24 hours.

The update to Android 10 brings with it several new features. Navigation gestures make it quicker to move around your phone and the system-wide dark theme will make using your phone at night easier on your eyes. Digital Wellbeing is also included to help you better understand how you use your phone and establish better habits.

Other new Android 10 features include one called Smart Reply that'll offer predicted responses for incoming messages, even in notifications, as well as relevant actions like using Google Maps to find an address that you get in a message. The update also gives you easier access to privacy controls, putting things like Web & App Activity and Location History in a dedicated Privacy menu in the Settings app.

HMD Global is one of the better Android manufacturers when it comes to releasing updates. As we mentioned before, HMD committed to updating nearly 20 devices to Android 10, including lower-end phones that don't always get great software support. Doing this helps to build consumer confidence in HMD and make owners of Nokia phones more loyal.
