Gmail apps for Android and iOS getting Google Meet integration for easier video calling

As many people continue to quarantine and fight the spread of coronavirus, Google has been working to make its Meet video call service better and more easily accessible. After recently making Meet free for everyone, Google is now taking another step to make it easy to use.

Google Meet is getting integrated into the Gmail apps for Android and iOS. This Meet integration with Gmail means you'll also be able to join a video call sent to you in an email just by tapping on the link.

In the coming weeks, you'll also see a new Meet tab in the Gmail app where you'll find upcoming meetings scheduled in Google Calendar. From there, you can join a Meet video call with one tap.

You can use the new Meet tab in Gmail to quickly start a new video call by tapping on "New Meeting", get a meeting link to share with others, or schedule a meeting in Google Calendar. There's a "Join with a code" button to help you join meetings shared with you by entering a code, too.

The good news is that if you don't want to see a Meet tab in your Gmail app, you'll be able turn it off. Just tap on the hamburger menu in the upper left corner of the inbox to access your Settings, tap on your account, scroll down, and then uncheck Meet.
