Moto G Fast leaked by Motorola ahead of US release

Motorola recently launched a couple of its newest Moto G phones, the Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power, to the US, but one model that hasn't yet made its way stateside is the regular Moto G8. That could be changing soon.

Moto G Fast is the name of a new Motorola phone that appears to be coming to the US, and it may be a rebranded Moto G8. The Motorola US channel on YouTube uploaded a video promo for a device called the "Moto G Fast" this week and then quickly took it down, but now before the folks at XDA-Developers were able to save the clip and then re-upload it.

The video confirms a few details of the Moto G Fast, like its octa-core processor and 3GB of RAM. We can also see that it has a triple rear camera setup that includes a macro cam and an ultra-wide camera.

Motorola promises that the Moto G Fast can get 2 days of battery life on a single charge, and the video also shows a hole-punch selfie cam and what looks to be a rear fingerprint reader.

The Moto G8's spec list includes an octa-core Snapdragon 665 processor, 64GB of storage, a microSD card slot, and a 4000mAh battery. The display is a 6.4-inch 1560x720 panel, and the triple rear camera array includes a 16MP main cam with f/1.7 aperture, an 8MP ultra-wide camera with 118-degree field of view, and a 2MP macro cam.

The Moto G8 is currently being sold in Europe for £179.99/€199.99, which is around $220 USD, and so it's possible that the Moto G Fast could carry a similar price tag when it launches in the US. The Moto G Stylus and Moto G Power are sold in the US for $299.99 and $249.99, respectively, so the Moto G Fast could serve as a lower-cost option for those who just want an affordable Android phone.

Exactly when that release will happen isn't known, but if Motorola's already got a video ready for YouTube, then the official announcement probably isn't far off.
