New Microsoft Surface devices launching this month, including Surface Earbuds and Headphones 2

Today's a big day for Microsoft's Surface family of devices, as it's been revealed that several new Surface devices are launching this month.

First up, Microsoft has given us a launch date for the Surface Earbuds that it first showed off last year. The Surface Earbuds will be available starting May 12 for $199, which is $50 less than the price they were originally announced at.

The Surface Earbuds are Microsoft's take on the popular truly wireless earbud style. They've got a touch surface for controlling music playback, IPX4 water resistance, and Office features like Play My Emails for Outlook. The earbuds themselves offer 8 hours of battery life on a single charge and the charging case can get you 2 additional charges.

If over-ear headphones are more your style, Microsoft also introduced the Surface Headphones 2 today. These wireless cans offer improved sound quality over the previous model as well as better battery life, boasting up to 20 hours on a single charge.

The Surface Headphones 2 feature active noise cancellation that you can just using the on ear dials. There are 13 levels of noise control, and you can choose to block out or amplify human voices depending on your situation. Finally, the ear cups themselves have been updated to rotate 180 degrees so that they're more comfortable when they're around your neck.

Microsoft says the Surface Headphones 2 will be available starting May 12 for $249, $100 less than the original model. They'll be available in Black or Platinum color options.

There are a couple of new Surface computers launching this month, too. The Surface Go 2 features a bigger 10.5-inch 1920x1280 display than its predecessor that had a 10-inch screen. The Verge also notes that the base model will include an Intel Pentium Gold processor, but there will also be a model with an 8th Gen Intel Core m3 chipset.

According to Microsoft, the Surface Go 2 also features a bigger batter and reduced power consumption and it can get you up to 10 hours on a single charge. When it comes to ports, the Surface Go 2 has a USB-C port, a Surface Connect port for charging, and microSD slot.

Microsoft plans to offer 4GB of RAM and 64GB of eMMC storage with the base Surface Go 2, which will cost $399.99. You'll be able to step up to a 8GB of RAM, a 128GB SSD, and a Pentium Gold processor for $549, and there will be a Core m3 model with 8GB of RAM and a 128GB SSD for $629.

To help keep you connected wherever you go, Microsoft will also sell a Surface Go 2 with built-in LTE connectivity. The base model will start at $729 and include a Core m3 processor, 8GB of RAM, and a 128GB SSD for $729, and an upgraded model with a 256GB SSD will be available for $879.

Microsoft will also offer Surface Go Type Covers at a starting price of $99. If you've got a Surface Go Type Cover for the original Surface Go, though, it'll fit the new model just fine.

Rounding out the lineup of new Microsoft devices is the Surface Book 3. It'll be available in 13.5- and 15-inch models, but both will get Intel's 10th Gen processors. The 13.5-inch version will start at $1,599 for a quad-core Core i5 model while the 15-inch version will start at $2,299 for a model with a quad-core Core i7 chipset.

The entry-level 13.5-inch Surface Book 3 will include Intel Iris Plus graphics, says The Verge, but you can move up to a model with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1650 Max-Q graphics that starts at $1,999. The 15-inch Surface Book 3 ships with a GTX 1660Ti that Microsoft says is powerful enough to play the top Xbox Game Pass for PC titles at 1080p and 60 frames per second.

Other features of the Surface Book 3 include support for up to 32GB of RAM, up to 2TB of storage with an M.2 2280 drive that Microsoft says is the fastest SSD it's ever shipped, and a port array that includes two USB-A ports, one USB-C port, a full-size SD card reader, and a Surface Connect port.

The Surface Book 3 will launch on May 21.
