Android 11 Beta Launch Show scheduled for June 3

Google has said that the first Android 11 beta release would arrive in June, and now we've got a precise date to circle on our calendar.

Google will host the Android 11 Beta Launch Show on June 3rd. The show will be streamed on YouTube and it'll kick off at 8:00 am PT/11:00 am ET. Google tells us we can expect info on the new features packed into Android 11 and other announcements.

This type of event would normally take place at Google I/O, but that live event was canceled this year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Google has rolled out two Developer Preview releases of Android 11 over the past couple of months. As the name "Developer Preview" suggests, though, these are early updates intended for developers to load onto their Pixel phones so they can begin preparing their apps for the public Android 11 release later this year.

These developer-focused updates can be buggy and are not intended for daily use by normal consumers. While there may still be some bugs in these upcoming beta releases, they should run a bit more smoothly now that Google has two Developer Preview releases under its belt.

Android 11 is expected to launch to the public in late Q3 2020.
