After going by the name Android TV for nearly 6 years, Google's TV-focused operating system may soon undergo a rebrand.
Google is reportedly planning to rename Android TV to Google TV. That's according to a source speaking to the folks at 9to5Google.
There's no concrete evidence to back up the right now, but the change certainly could happen. We've seen quite a few products launch with an Android name that was later shed, including Android Pay that became Google Pay, Android Wear that became Wear OS, and the Android Market that became Google Play.
Besides Google dropping the Android branding from several other products, there's is one of the best-known companies in the world, we also know that Google is one of the most well-known brands in the world. Changing the name of Android TV to Google TV could help consumers more quickly associate that platform with Google.
