OnePlus Z tipped to include Snapdragon 765 processor

With the OnePlus Z expected to be a more affordable entry into the OnePlus lineup, lots of folks are interested to learn the specs that'll power the upcoming device. Today some info on the processor that'll power the Z may have leaked.

The OnePlus Z will reportedly include a Snapdragon 765 processor with 5G support. That's according to an illustration shared to Twitter by Max J., who has been the source of several OnePlus leaks lately, including the rumor that the OnePlus Z could be officially introduced in July.

Previous rumors claimed that the OnePlus Z could use a MediaTek Dimensity 1000 chipset, but Max J. suggests that OnePlus may have changed its mind and switched to a Snapdragon 765.

Announced at the tail-end of 2019, the Snapdragon 765 is Qualcomm's upper mid-range processor that offers 20% performance improvement over its predecessor. One of its most notable features is its built-in support for all key regions and frequency bands of 5G, including mmWave and sub-6GHz.

It's expected that the OnePlus Z will be a sort of follow-up to 2015's OnePlus X, which was a more affordable alternative to the OnePlus 2 flagship that year. With the OnePlus 8 starting at $699 this year, the OnePlus Z could be a solid option for folks who want a more affordable phone, especially if it does end up packing a Snapdragon 765 and 5G support.
