Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2 shown off in FCC photos

Normally when an unannounced device appears in the FCC, its test photos are kept confidential so that the manufacturer's surprise isn't spoiled. That's not the case with the Samsung Galaxy Watch Active 2, though.

A device that's likely the Galaxy Watch Active 2 recently stopped by the FCC (via Droid-Life), and the ID Label and Location photos clearly show the front of Samsung's upcoming smartwatch. We can see Samsung's One UI atop Tizen as well as a couple of buttons on the side. This design lines up with what we've seen in leaked photos.

The FCC filing also reveals that the Galaxy Watch Active 2 will have Gorilla Glass DX+, 5ATM water resistance, MIL-STD-810G toughness rating, and GPS. It'll be available in aluminum and stainless steel case options, and its model number is SM-R830. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth support is included as well.

Previous reports have suggested that Samsung's new Galaxy Watch Active 2 will be available in 44mm and 40mm screen sizes with 1.4-inch and 1.2-inch Super AMOLED screens. One of the more interesting new features rumored to be coming with the Galaxy Watch Active 2 is a touch bezel that'll let you navigate the OS by swiping your finger on the smooth bezel since this device is ditching the rotating bezel found on previous Samsung smartwatches.

There's no word yet on when the Galaxy Watch Active 2 might be announced, but Samsung's got a couple of good opportunities coming up. First is August 7, when Samsung is hosting its Galaxy Note 10 event, and second is in early September when the IFA 2019 conference will be held in Berlin.
