Essential Phone gets July 2019 security update on the same day as Google's Pixels

Today Google released the July 2019 Android security update and began pushing it out to Pixel phones. But those aren't the only devices getting the update today.

The Essential Phone is now receiving an update with the July 2019 security patches. It's build PQ1A.190105.090 and is 87.8MB in size. If you haven't gotten the update yet, you can hop into your Essential Phone's Settings app and check for it manually.

Essential has been getting security updates out on the same day as Google for a while now, and it's impressive that the company still manages to update the Essential Phone hours after Google's Pixels. That update speed is one of the reasons that some folks are dying for an Essential Phone 2, and if a recent Andy Rubin tweet is to be believed, that device may not be far off.
