Dr. Mario World launching on Android and iOS on July 10th

After initially being teased by Nintendo back in January, Dr. Mario World now has a release date.

Dr. Mario World will launch on Android and iOS on July 10th. It's available for pre-order on both the App Store and Play Store right now, so if you're looking forward to Nintendo's next mobile game, you can "pre-order" it right now.

Nintendo also released a lengthy video for Dr. Mario World explaining how the game works. It's a match three game in which you're given a limited number of capsules per level, and you need to eliminate the viruses using those capsules to complete the level. Nintendo says there will be five worlds available at the start, each one with multiple levels, and more worlds will be added later.

There are multiple doctors that you can play as in the game, including Mario, Luigi, and Princess Peach, and each doctor has a special skill to help you clear a level. There are also items available to help you clear a stage. These doctors can be bought using coins or diamonds, the latter of which is the premium currency.

Dr. Mario World is free to start, but does offer diamonds that you can buy and use for different things. For example, you'll need to use a heart to attempt a level, and if you run out of hearts, you can either wait for them to refill over time or pay diamonds to get more hearts right away.

The video shows how much the diamonds will cost. There are several options available, starting at $1.99 for 20 diamonds or 50 plus 3 bonus diamonds for $4.99. The top option available will get you 700 diamonds plus 350 bonus diamonds for $69.99.

Nintendo says that a persistent internet connection is required for Dr. Mario World.

Dr. Mario isn't one of Nintendo's biggest franchises, but it's good to see Nintendo continue to release mobile games on Android and iOS. And because this is Nintendo releasing a new mobile game with Mario in the name, Dr. Mario World could expose lots of new people to the Dr. Mario series, which originated on the NES in 1990.

Are you going to try Dr. Mario World when it launches next month?
