League of Legends mobile game is reportedly in the works

We've seen some big video games make the jump to mobile recently, including Fortnite, PUBG, and Mario, and soon we may be adding another title to that list.

League of Legends is coming to smartphones. Sources speaking to Reuters say that China's Tencent is working with U.S.-based developer Riot Games to create a mobile version of League of Legends. One source said that the game has been in development for more than one year, while another added that it's unlikely to launch in 2019.

The world's most popular desktop PC game, League of Legends has tens of millions of players and has a huge popularity in e-sports, too. The game is a multiplayer online battle arena, also known as a MOBA, that tasks you with controlling a character on a team that's working to battle another team and destroy a core in their base.

Given its huge popularity on the desktop and the recent rise in mobile games like Fortnite and PUBG, a mobile version of League of Legends makes sense. Little is known about the mobile League of Legends right now, but it wouldn't be a surprise if it came to both Android and iOS.

Have you ever played League of Legends? Would you be interested in a mobile version?
